Paul Mays is a hymnist (writer of hymns) and travelling evangelist. He and his wife, Yvette, are parents to Sophia and Chloe. All four worship at the Westside church of Christ in Salem, Virginia.
Paul works extensively on social media, sharing his original A Cappella teaching hymns, recorded teaching videos, and live teaching videos which generate many Bible studies. Paul broadcasts live hymn studies at 1 PM Eastern and 9 PM Eastern on Digital Bible Study on Facebook and YouTube. His work, "The Fruit Of Our Lips, taken from Hebrews 13:15, is also featured on the Gospel Broadcasting Network. Paul has written and co-written over 225 hymns, with a goal of 500 by 2028. His goal is to collect 500 hymns written by faithful members of the Lord's church for his life's work, a 1000 song hymnal, also titled "The Fruit Of Our Lips." Paul also wrote hymns for the 2020 and 2021 Spiritual Sword Lectureship.
Paul frequently travels to hold singing, preaching, and revival meetings. In 2022, he has held two meetings in Michigan, one in Georgia, three in North Carolina, and one in Tennessee. Paul will finish 2022 with a meeting in Kansas and two meetings in Florida. In these meetings, he teaches the church to sing his original hymns, followed by a lesson examining each lyric against the authority of scripture (Colossians 3:16-17, Acts 17:11, I Thessalonians 5:21).
After each lesson, Paul leads the hymn again, solidifying the learning of the melody, harmonies, and the teaching. Paul then extends the Lord's invitation for salvation. Typically Paul delivers six or seven messages in a three or four-day meeting format, Friday through Sunday or Sunday through Wednesday. Paul provides these hymns in PowerPoint and PDF formats.
