About me
Susan Childers grew up in Livingston, Tennessee and has been a minister's wife most of her life. She was married 48 years to Richard Sain who passed away after suffering with Alzheimers for eight years and also Parkinsons. The Sains worked with congregations in Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina and with 18 years of service in Florida. Susan's work in the church included secretary, Bible class teacher and designing nursery Bible classes. She has worked in VBS, Bible camps and Lads to Leaders. Susan is also a Ladies' Day speaker. Susan graduated from Freed-Hardeman College and Tennessee Tech University, obtaining her Master's Degree from Arkansas State University. She was a stay at home mom before beginning her teaching career. Susan retired from Florida and Tennessee, teaching Family & Consumer Sciences, middle school science, and in various elementary school positions. She also taught "sewing for children" at Piedmont Community College in Roxboro, NC. Her hobbies include sewing, gardening and food preservation. The Sains reared five children; one son passed in 2005. They have seven grandchildren ages 18 years to 8. Susan enjoys her time with her children and the new family she married into. On November 12, 2023, Susan and Tom Childers were joined in marriage in Chapel Hall at Old Main at FHU. Their union is based on serving God. They are blessed and thankful to be a part of PTP and to continue their work in the Lord's kingdom!
